The University of Michigan Urban Land Institute gathered for their annual Excellence Awards this fall of 2012.  The UM-ULI honors various individuals and organizations across the state for work and endeavors in revitalizing Michigan’s Real Estate environment.  The Excellence Awards are their way of showing congratulations to those real estate individuals and/or businesses that have worked hard to add stability and growth opportunities for the State.

One of those groups, Jonathan Rooks of Parkland Properties, made sure to acknowledge at a speech during this year’s UM-ULI awards ceremony was Ferris State University/Kendall College of Art and Design.  Ferris/Kendall was the project leaders of the transformation of the Federal Building located in downtown Grand Rapids.  They were awarded the prestige’s 2012 Development/Redevelopment of the Year for West Michigan for their work.

Rooks took opportunity to thank Ferris/Kendall and other real estate professionals for their commitment to as he put it, “successfully created greater community value”, surrounding works such as the Federal Building.

Congratulations Ferris/Kendall for winning the 2012 Development/Redevelopment of the Year.

The University of Michigan Urban Land Institute assembled this fall of 2012 to honor different individuals and organizations for their work and efforts in revitalizing Michigan’s Real Estate environment.  They sought to call to attention those who excelled at rejuvenating communities through work done on various real estate projects.

Jonathan Rooks of Parkland Properties made mention of one of these organizations, Colliers International, during a speech at this year’s event. Colliers won the category: Sale/Lease of the Year award/West Michigan.

David Czurak of Grand Rapids Business Journal did a fabulous write up in the November issue of the GR Business Journal.  Czurak cited Colliers was awarded for “an intricate deal that involved both a sale and a lease that is adding about 200 jobs to the local economy.”

It is to this initiative that Jon Rooks was and is honored to share a stage with them.  Rooks stated, “…This is indeed a select group of highly committed Michigan Real Estate Professionals who have successfully created greater community value with jobs, value added services and construction.”

Congratulations Colliers International with an excellent job of leading the way to a brighter future for us here in West Michigan.

Shoreline Inn and Conference Center has recently been nominated by Muskegon Mayor Stephen Gawron for the Redevelopment of the Year Award for West Michigan.  It has been quite a journey over the last few years for Shoreline and its developer, Jonathan Rooks, and people are taking notice.

Jon Rooks and his Parkland Properties came into ownership of the Shoreline Inn by default, after previous ownership defaulted on payments on a distressed mortgage note that Rooks had purchased.  Rooks went to work on redeveloping a failing property by hiring Doug Pollock and Darlene Whitham to manage the day to day operations and bring about an attitude change to how a guest should be treated.

Back in 2009 the Muskegon County tourism manager Jill Foreman stated, “We have an owner that is willing to put something into the hotel.  I see nothing but success coming from it. We are excited!”  Success has come and this is why Mayor Gawron has made his recommendation for this award.

The Shoreline Inn development on Muskegon Lake comprises of Shoreline Inn and Conference Center, Terrace Point Marina, and the Lakehouse Waterfront Grille.  These businesses have combined to accommodate 60,000 visitors in 2012, which is a three times increase from the 20,000 visitors in 2009 before Rooks management team took over.

You too can encounter how Shoreline Inn and its amazing views of Muskegon Lake bring a calm to your stay.  Call one of their courteous staff to reserve your nights lodging at 866-727-8483.

Jonathan Rooks and Brad Gruizinga have put together final closeout pricing for the few remaining condominiums that they are available at Union Square. Get down today and be in before the end of the year.

Union Square is a condominium development in downtown Grand Rapids by Rooks and Gruizinga.  Redeveloped in the former Grand Rapids Union High School, it has captured and accentuated that old school with its chalkboards and trophy cases, while bringing in looks that emphasize the new and modern layouts that you expect today.

Union Square is also located in a Neighborhood Enterprise Zone (NEZ).  This enables residents of the condominium to qualify for additional tax savings until 2019.

Combine this great look of old and new, tremendous closeout price, downtown location, and NEZ tax savings and you can find yourself having quite the deal.

Call Brad Veneklase at 616-988-6466 to schedule a time to see Union Square

Jonathan Rooks of Parkland Properties in Grand Rapids, MI has some specific criterion for the projects he and his company work on.  Projects like Boardwalk and Union Square Condominiums have met that criterion.  The implementation by his team to be “as efficient as possible” has resulted in two condominiums worth calling home.

Boardwalk and Union Square are a result of hard work; and it shows.  The amenities available at each of the condominium developments, is not attained by rival projects.  Simple items like a free covered parking are added conveniences to the onsite restaurant, pool, courtyards, and full service fitness center.  The ability of his team to meld the historical buildings along with a modern urban look and feel sets Parkland’s projects apart.

Rooks “as efficient as possible” business strategy is realized in all of the incredible benefits you receive, and having it done at a price that creates amazing value today and future sale opportunities.

More for less is great for you.  To see the efficiency in action and check out one of the last remaining condos, call Brad Veneklase, at 616-988-6466.

Jon Rooks was presented with the Real Estate Excellence Award from the University of Michigan/Urban Land Institute Real Estate Forum at the annual Real Estate Forum, held in Grand Rapids, MI.

This top award reflects an individual’s lifetime accomplishments, industry leadership, reputations of the real estate development projects, and innovations and advancements in those developments.

Rooks focus on redeveloping and marketing old buildings in urban areas, hence adding new vitality and excitement to those downtown areas, was a key in his nomination for this award.  This focus grabbed the attention of the two different West Michigan City leaders to nominate Rooks for the award

Are you in the market to purchase a condo?  Do you realize that because of the low interest rate environment that we are currently in, that purchasing is less expensive than renting right now?  What if you could add the ability to get into your own place with only 3.5% down?

Jonathan Rooks of Parkland Properties believes that now is one of the best times in history to purchase your very own place.  “We are in a low interest rate time, and the Federal Bank has promised to keep it that way.  Add to the work we have done to qualify for FHA financing with only 3.5% down, and you will realize that purchasing a condo is much better than giving your money to someone else by renting.”

If you have wanted to get your own place, then now is an incredible time to make the move.  Living in downtown Grand Rapids is a plus.  Take advantage of it.

Call Brad Veneklase at 616-988-6466 today to schedule a meeting.

When you look at the work of someone, you get an idea of who the creator or artist is behind the work.  When you get into Union Square you will have this same chance to get a feel of the hard work and attention to detail that Jon Rooks and Brad Gruizinga put into this project.  Their desire was to take what was old and discarded and make it into the “New Cool” of Grand Rapids.

Union Square has loads of great features such as a roof top pool, hot tub, sun deck, clubhouse, and fitness center to aid in your enjoyment of the downtown condo living.  With only 4 custom developer lofts remaining, you better get down to see them.

To get a better feel for a Rooks and Gruizinga condo, call Brad Veneklase at 616-988-6466, and he will show why Union Square can be a daily part of your life.

What another amazing Artprize Grand Rapids put on for us here in 2012.  From the “Lights in the Park” to “Rebirth of Spring” and the grand prize winner “Elephants”, it continues to add to the buzz of living in downtown Grand Rapids.  And there is still a Jon Rooks winning piece of art that is available to view at Union Square Condos.

But like just like Artprize, these pieces might not be available for viewing very long.  So if you enjoyed the excitement of downtown Grand Rapids during Artprize and have wanted to live in the midst of it, then getting into a condo at Union Square is a must see.

To schedule your art viewing, call Brad Veneklase at 616-988-6466.  Do it today!
